Wellbeing Services County of North Ostrobothnia

We provide a wide range of public health, social and rescue services for all North Ostrobothnia residents

The wellbeing services county of North Ostrobothnia, Pohde, is one of the 21 wellbeing services counties in Finland. Pohde is responsible for organising public health, social and rescue services in North Ostrobothnia. We have over 18 000 professionals from different fields, who work together to offer high quality well-being services for all residents in the area.

The responsibilities of every wellbeing services county in Finland include:

• Services for children, young people and families
• Services for working-age people
• Mental health and substance abuse services
• Services for persons with disabilities
• Student welfare
• Rescue services
• Prehospital emergency medical services

The wellbeing services county of North Ostrobothnia consists of 30 municipalities: Alavieska, Haapajärvi, Haapavesi, Hailuoto, Ii, Kalajoki, Kempele, Kuusamo, Kärsämäki, Liminka, Lumijoki, Merijärvi, Muhos, Nivala, Oulainen, Oulu, Pudasjärvi, Pyhäjoki, Pyhäjärvi, Pyhäntä, Raahe, Reisjärvi, Sievi, Siikajoki, Siikalatva, Taivalkoski, Tyrnävä, Utajärvi, Vaala and Ylivieska.

  • Evenings, nights and weekends: contact  emergency duty service.
    Call the Medical Helpline’s toll-free number 116117 (Päivystysapu) before seeking medical attention from the Ostrobothnia emergency clinics. We will guide you to the appropriate location for treatment and will advise you how urgently you need to seek treatment. If your condition can be treated with self-care, we will provide you with care instructions.
  • Oral and dental health services are provided by dental clinics
  • Evenings, nights and weekends Oral and dental health services: contact emergency duty service 
  • During pregnancy, the well-being of mothers and children is monitored at maternity and child health clinics. You can also contact the child health clinic if your child falls ill.
